Autosport 28 Oct 1971 pp24-26 (by Richard Feast). Motoring News 28 Oct 1971 pp12-13,15 (by 'MGD' Mike Doodson). Autocourse 1971-72 pp134-135 summary only (by David Phipps). The Motor Racing Year No 3 (by Anthony Pritchard) pp144-147.
A total of 13 works cars were entered: two each by Tyrrell and Surtees, three by BRM, three from Brabham, one by March for Peterson, one from Lotus for Fittipaldi, and one from McLaren for Oliver, who has standing in for Denny Hulme. The Tecno was entered but did not arrive. The only privateer was the March 711 from Frank Williams for Pescarolo as BARC, organising their first F1 race for six years, preferred half the grid to be made up of F5000 cars. Schenken's BT33-3 was rebodied with a higher cockpit and a completely new and nicely finished wide nose, while newcomer Carlos Reutemann had BT33-1 which had inherited the nattier nose that Schenken's car had previously worn. Motoring News referred to Gethin's BRM as 160-03, but Autosport and Pritchard both said it was 160-01, his usual car.
